DESCRIPTION:
Republic Services employee Tim Tycer was on his way home from work when he got a call letting him know there was a wild fire burning near Republic’s Coffin Butte Landfill and Pacific Region Compost (PRC) in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
Tim quickly drove to the scene and found a state trooper who let him know that they needed a water source. Tycer got the 3,500 gallon tanker used at PRC and headed back, where he filled fire trucks and tenders with water. Tim filled the truck a second time before other counties sent water tenders to help. His quick action helped to save nearby homes and wildlife habitat.
