DESCRIPTION:
A new report finds that the renewable energy supply in some of the world’s biggest economies will more than double by 2030. The study, by the World Resources Institute, a think tank, and reported on by Reuters, attributes this exponential increase to new national climate and energy plans, driven by the UN’s conference on climate change, now in session in Paris.
Eight of the world’s 10 largest greenhouse gas emitters—Brazil, China, the European Union, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, and the United States—could see their total clean energy supply jump to 20,000 terawatt hours from around 9,000 in 2009. These countries are among the 150+ that have announced new targets for renewables to cut greenhouse gases in the past twelve months, ahead of the UN climate change conference.
Canada and Russia, among the world's top 10 emitting countries, were not included in the study because they have not announced renewable energy targets past 2020. But the report should be a reliable guide for the investment community to find new profits as these new energy markets rapidly expand. I’m John Howell for 3BL Media.
