A three-day workshop of major water stakeholders in Nigeria was held last week as part of an initiative headed by Heineken International, Nigerian Breweries, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. Included were representatives from government, NGOs, and the private, research, academic, and community sectors.
Antea Group Senior Consultant Peter Penning co-moderated discussions about causes of water stress and mitigating actions to take moving forward. Back in February, UNIDO and Heineken International signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the development of water stewardship and promotion of renewable energy solutions in selected countries around the world--Nigeria was one of six countries selected for water stewardship programs.
