DESCRIPTION:
This month marks the 25th anniversary of GreenMoney Journal, a publication that has tracked impact investing and sustainable business since 1992. In a review of those years, founder and managing editor Cliff Feigenbaum describes his “aha” moment as the discovery that his 401k plan when he worked at a healthcare institution included tobacco stocks.
That disconnect led to his first article on socially responsible investment, published in a local journal of business. Within a year, Feigenbaum had launched GreenMoney Journal. The anniversary issue includes insightful articles by social finance leaders forecasting the next 25 years, displayed on a new website launched to mark GreenMoney’s 25th year.
Amy Domini, founder of Domini Impact Investments, projects a bright future for SRI. She asserts, “The tide has turned; investors who care about the impact of business-as-usual on the well-being of others now number over 26 percent of global assets under management.” The rise of SRI from marginal to mainstream reflects the growing awareness by business that corporate social responsibility is material to the bottom line. I’m John Howell for 3BL Media.
