MIT Creates Plan for a Sustainable Campus

A university campus offers a great environment in which to implement sustainability. Particularly, an innovation-driven university can create a durable system where new and promising ideas can be continually incorporated. In addition to following known best practices, sustainable innovation can turn a university campus into a model for embracing new processes that can be replicated by others.

MIT has come up with a preliminary plan to align the operations of its 168-acre campus along a core set of sustainability principles. The plan sets priorities for sustainable buildings, storm water and land management, materials, and greener labs.
