Media Alert: UnitedHealthcare and Boys & Girls Clubs of King County to Celebrate Support of Fitness and Nutrition Programs

What: UnitedHealthcare is providing $74,000 in project funding to expand Boys & Girls Clubs of King County’s healthy lifestyles programs for 4,200 kids. The funding will support creation and expansion of community gardens, nutrition education programming and the purchase of new fitness supplies and equipment. Club members will also receive 60,000 hot, healthy meals over the next year as a result of UnitedHealthcare’s support.

To celebrate the funding in support of healthy lifestyles, UnitedHealthcare employees will volunteer and participate “International Cuisine Night”, which will feature healthy cooking and active lifestyles demonstrations with more than 100 kids and their families from Boys & Girls Clubs of King County.

Why: This project is the latest in UnitedHealthcare’s “Do Good. Live Well.” employee volunteer initiative, whose mission is to inspire service and encourage volunteerism. Funding from UnitedHealthcare was generated through its participation in CBS EcoMedia’s WellnessAd program.

When: Friday, Oct. 23, 2015; 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Where: Boys & Girls Clubs of King County’s Federal Way Club, 30815 8th Ave. S, Federal Way WA, Parking available in the main lot directly in front of the Club.
